This is for those of you out there who wonder what it is exactly I do in the creation of a make over doll (::waves to Jax, Kris and Liz::). While every doll is different there are some steps that remain the same and I decided to make a page to show how a doll goes from being one thing to another. :)

Here are a bevy of beauties drying in a dish strainer in the work sink. I think I got most of these from eBay but I also buy used dolls at flea markets, yard sales and consignment shops. At least two of these girls aren't used but they still get the same treatment. First thing I do is bathe the dolls, new or used, in a Formula 911 (made by Twin Pines Of Maine, Inc.) and hot water. I scrub each doll and wash their hair. I wash new dolls because some of them have glitter or some other residue on them from their outfits.
While it might not look like it, all these dolls have had their hair washed and brushed out. Doll one's hair is quite frizzy. Doll two had a hair cut somewhere along the line. (This is why little girls should not be allowed to play with scissors when Mommy isn't around to watch them. :) ) Doll three has a lovely deep golden hair that cleaned up very well. Dolls four and five also have lovely hair. Dolls one through three are all that famous doll who's name begins with B. Doll four may be B too but I'm more inclined to think she is one of B's pals. Doll five is B's younger sister S and has a slimmer body and although you can't see them, she has flat feet.
Next is Doll six and we have a famous Disney doll, P, then one of B's friends and finally another famous Disney doll. Doll eight looks a bit odd because I removed her head after her bath. I just set it on her neck for these pictures. She has a body similar to S's but without the swivel waist.
What comes next? Well, now that the dolls are cleaned I have to decide what I want to make them into. My first thought is that I may do nothing to doll six besides redress her and add her to my personal collection...but we'll see what happens. :)
And here are some new additions to the makeover club. Haven't a clue what I'm going to do with them just yet. On the far left we have a beheaded viking princess. Next is a Bleeding Edge doll dressed in some clothes I borrowed from my My Scene collection. Then there is Jesse from Toy Story, who while smaller then the Bleeding Edge dolls will make a perfect scale little sister for them. And last is a second Bleeding Edge doll wearing more borrowed clothes and my Scene shoes. I think I'll be keeping with the Goth theme of the Bleeding edge dolls as they are really, really pale thus limiting them a bit in the makeover department.
