In the works

Here we have a little picture of my work table. It's actually a wooden TV dinner tray that I set up beside me in the computer area so I can use the computer chair to sit upon. It's the most comfortable chair for doing things like painting and sewing. This shot was taken sometime last year I think. It might be even older. You can see a myriad of dolls in various states of repainting. Not one of them has made it out for public viewing yet.
A closer look at the cup full of heads. I use dowels of various widths to hold the heads I'm painting. On the far left we find Doll #3 from the Step by Step page. Her repaint is almost complete here and she's had streaks of pink added to her hair. Fourth doll from the left is Doll #7 in the midst of a repaint. Why haven't you seen #3 and #7 completed?...well, while I like the repaint of #3, her costume did not work out and has to be done over completely. Doll #7 has had her third repaint and I'm still not sure I like it.
In the next picture you can see several Volks brand heads. The first two males I set aside until which time as I can afford to buy them bodies then I'll complete them. The next head, the blue hair, is also male and was a Volks Skin head which I rooted with blue and white. Then another Volks skin head rooted with pale pink hair. I haven't figured out how to correctly paint the Volks heads yet so they waiting for my skills to improve. Lastly, in the foreground we have Doll #8 from Step by Step. She's completely repainted and has white and blue rooted into her hair. Doll number eight met with an unfortunate accident and her head awaits a new body to be procured for her.
And I see a doll that did make it out of the cup finished, Angel the swap doll I did in 2002 so these are old pictures but I don't have any that are more current. Angel is the second head in from the left. Her body suffered the same fate as Doll #8 but luckily I was able to find a new body that matched her skin tone and complete the swap. On the far right is Twinkle, another doll to make it to completion. Hers is a long and complicated saga that can be found on her web page. All the rest of these darlings currently reside in the dreaded Shoe Box of Doom!..::insert echo here::
What happened to Doll #8 and Angel's original bodies you ask...Did I mention I have a very large Golden Retriever who occasionally mistakes one of my projects for his chew toys? No. Well, that is what happened to the both of them. He chomped Angel into ten, distinct little pieces. Doll#8, while staying in one basic piece, still was not salvageable after the dog was done with her.

This is a doll I've been trying to make into a witch for about two years now. She keeps ending up in the SBoD. (That's Shoe Box of Doom) The only part of the doll I'm happy with is her eyes but her brows need work as do her lips...so, perhaps she'll be completed some October in time for Halloween but I won't hold my breath.
Another shot of my working area. The head with the green hair is my first attempt at painting hair. I rather like the color it came out but as she was an experiment I still haven't figure out what I'm going to do with her and her lovely green hair.
And that brings us to Doll #2 from our Step by Step page. Her repaint has progressed beyond this point but I ran across these shots and decided to put them up. She's also in the SBoD but only because she's awaiting my time to design her a costume and do something with her hair.
And this is Jesse, a new addition to the program. I'm presently using her to experiment with getting rid of full toothy smiles without cutting out the teeth and gluing the mouth together. It's not bad for a first try but I may have to peel/chip/scrap what I've done away and start again.
And here she is after I cleaned off her face again and redid her mouth. I rather like Jesse's new Glitter Goth look. She's far from done as she still needs clothes and some rerooting but she's getting there bit by bit and so is her goth big sis.
And here we have Jesse's as yet unnamed Goth pal, Doll 11 before her makeover and after. Like Jesse she still has more work to be done on her before she's finished.
